A little more than two weeks after the Apple Watch hit the market, Google has unveiled its first app to support the wearable device – Google News & Weather.

Watch support is the major new feature in version 1.7.426.

Here’s an interactive preview of the Apple Watch app from our sister site WatchAware. Click here if you can’t see it. On the site, you can also preview each of the more than 4,000 Apple Watch apps available to download.

Originally landing back in October, the app is designed to give users a personalized view of headline stories, local news, and weather. There is coverage from more than 65,000 different publications.

On your iOS device, you can modify the layout with any of 60 country-specific editions and personalized news sections like Hollywood, NASA, or Fashion.

Google News & Weather is a universal app designed for the iPhone/iPod touch and iPad/iPad mini. It can be downloaded now on the App Store for free.

While the News & Weather Apple Watch app isn’t exactly groundbreaking, hopefully Google has plans to bring watch support to its huge stable of other titles. I know many users who would be thrilled to see Google Maps for the device.
