When you’re hosting a pool or beach party, you want to be able to play your tunes for everybody without worrying about your Bluetooth speaker getting damaged by water. House of Marley has delivered beautiful sound in gorgeous, yet ecologically friendly, form factors, but until now the company has not offered a waterproof speaker. With the recently announced Chant Sport, House of Marley is one step closer to completing what senior vice president and general manager Sam Vanderveer calls the company’s “dream product lineup.”

The latest addition to the Chant Bluetooth speaker family, the Sport is the largest of its kin at the size of a water bottle. It produces sound from a 360 degree chamber inside an exterior made of recycled materials, and features IPX7 water-resistant protection for confident use outdoors. The IPX7 designation means it can withstand incidental exposure of up to a meter for as long as 30 minutes. It’s even designed to float, so if it does fall into the pool you won’t have to dive in to get it.

The Chant Sport utilizes Bluetooth 4.0, and the accessory includes an auxiliary input for additional connections to devices that don’t support the wireless standard. For your speakerphone needs, the Chant Sport boasts a built-in microphone, and the rechargeable lithium-ion battery will give you up to eight hours of wireless play time.

House of Marley’s Chant Sport is available at the company’s Web page for $119.99. Look for a full review of the accessory in the coming weeks.
