Fast/Fun News Writer

AppAdvice is looking for a passionate iPhone user who has their finger on the pulse of the AppStore and beyond.  The successful candidate for this position will be tuned into the world of the iPhone.  The key to success in this position is a combination of speed, accuracy, an eye for developing stories and the ability to sniff out the breaking news before anyone else has the scoop.

We’re looking for someone that knows how to cover the news and is capable of writing clear, concise reports that get the facts right, the names, the places, the dates, and most importantly the context.  Anyone can rewrite a press release and pass it off as news.  What we’re looking for is someone that understands the lay of the land and can take a story and explain why this is important and what it means to our core audience.

A minimum of two years of writing experience is essential for this position.  Prior work with a newspaper, another blog, or anywhere where the candidate had the responsibility of determining what was newsworthy then getting that story out fast is important but not mandatory.

We’re looking for one or more authors for this area who can commit to a minimum of 2 to 3 short posts per day.

In addition to being on top of  iPhone news including all other iPhone oriented blogs, the writer should be comfortable contacting developers of iPhone applications and developing relationships with these individuals as a means of sourcing scoops and getting a first look at new applications before the rest of the world sees them.

Authors will receive a byline for every post, a personal profile page that includes the author’s photo, links to the author’s own personal pages and an index of all the stories each author has written for AppAdvice.com.  You’ll also get access to our immense repository of iPhone applications which means that just about any application you’ve ever wanted you can now have for free.  Cash compensation is dependent upon experience.

If you’d like to apply for this position, please send an email with a cover letter, your resume and at least three writing samples of news stories similar to what we’ve described above.  If you also have links to published work currently online that would be a plus.

Please send your application to jobs@appadvice.com. Don’t forget to mention that you’re interested in the “Fast/Fun News Writer Position” in your email subject line.  Thanks!
