Getaround is a car rental service that allows ordinary people like you and me to rent out a spare vehicle to others. What makes the service even cooler, is that the process of advertising, renting et. al. is done via a free iPhone app. At TechCrunch Disrupt (over in NYC), the service officially launched today.

The rumor that Apple would be taking on the cable & satellite TV market is almost as old as the rumor that Apple might release an iPod with a phone in it. As with most Apple unveilings, they are usually preceded by a huge surge in rumors and leaks. Are we seeing that surge today?

If the presence of DRM would allow you to legally get NYT bestsellers for free or read them for only $0.99, wouldn't you supprt that? The fact that Apple is using FairPlay to protect eBooks may make that possible.
