Despicable Me: Minion Rush has just received a new despicable — more like delightful, actually — update that adds a new environment, a new mini-game, a new costume, and more.
The latest update to the wildly popular Gameloft-published endless running game based on the “Despicable Me” movies introduces a new environment that lets you discover the undersea secrets of the Anti-Villain League. Anti-Villain League is the alliance that recruited former supervillain Gru in “Despicable Me 2.”
The update also introduces a new Starfish Minion costume, which is in line with the Anti-Villain League’s being headquartered underwater.
The update also lets you unlock a new power-up to play the new Mission to the Moon mini-game, which is a nod to Gru’s great lunar heist in the first “Despicable Me” movie.
In addition, the new version of Despicable Me: Minion Rush lets you compete against other players in your country in the new local leaderboards and win prizes in daily contests. It also has a revamped main menu that lets you receive notifications for events. Of course, there’s also the usual round of bug fixes and performance optimizations.
The game received its previous update last January. That update brought a new Downtown area featuring locations from the films, a new secret area in the form of The Bank of Evil, and other enhancements.
Released in June last year, Despicable Me: Minion Rush was hailed as one of AppAdvice’s Top 10 Best Free iPad Apps Of 2013.
