Runkeeper 7.6 supports the Apple Watch Series 2’s GPS capabilities so you can track runs without carrying around your phone. Better still, your trips will now include GPS points upon completion.

There’s also a new customizable activity screen that allows you to select the stats that are most important to you. Just tap a stat and rotate through primary and secondary metrics during an activity for it to be displayed.

Additionally, the Runkeeper app now displays the last five minutes of activity so you know whether you are at or above your maximum BPM for extended periods of time.

Other new features include:

  • Target Pace Graph: The activity screen will also showcase the past five minutes of an activity to see how users are tracking against their target pace
  • Real-time Updates: Haptic updates every mile
  • Increased Glanceability: Larger fonts size on the activity screen

Back in February, Boston-based Runkeeper became the last prominent independent health and fitness tracking app to be acquired by a big-name sportswear company when it was purchased by Japanese sports equipment and footwear firm Asics.

Runkeeper is a free download on the App Store.
