Spotify Lands on Apple Watch With a Sparse Feature Set

November 13, 2018

Spotify for Apple Watch is here, but don’t get too excited just yet.

With a recent update to the iOS app, Apple Watch users can now interact with the streaming music service. But the app is lacking compared to what you can do with Apple Music on the wearable device.

Currently, the app allows you to control play/pause and skip music tracks. You can also rewind and fast forward podcasts. You can also view recently played playlists.

On the play screen, users can also connect to speakers or other device using Spotify Connect. You can also select the heart icon on the same screen to save a song to your collection.

There’s no ability to stream music from the service without an iPhone and just using an LTE Apple Watch. You also can’t download songs directly to the watch. But Spotify is promising more updates “soon.”

The Spotify app is designed for the iPhone and all iPad models. It can be downloaded now for free. You’ll need a subscription to use most of the features.
