T-Mobile is taking a page from the Google Voice playbook with the introduction of the DIGITS service. T-Mobile DIGITS will allow users to assign more than one phone number to a single device. It will also allow users to answer calls to a specific number on any Internet-connected device.

While the service will be built into some Android phones, any iPhone or iPad users will need to download a specific app. The service will be available on a Mac and other computers through a browser.

The standout feature looks to be that customers can use DIGITS with phone numbers tied to other networks like AT&T, Sprint, and Verizon.

While it’s currently free, there will be a charge for the service once exiting its beta test, which is expected to be sometime early next year.
