Quirky App Of The Day: Jack N' Jill Went Up The Hill But Not For Water
Jack N' Jill (Free) by Rohan Narang is a sweet adventure game that features the famous nursery rhyme. The rhyme is all about getting some water and taking an unfortunate tumble. This game gives you a little more substance. Jill is missing, and Jack needs to find her.
The game is designed in black and white with some retro music. The background is reminiscent of Super Mario Brothers 3. There are also similar obstacles that you’ll need to overcome. You can jump on platforms and over pits and spikes to find your mate.
Jack and Jill are little blobs. However, you can only control Jack. Jill is always waiting patiently at the end of the level for you. Jack doesn’t require complicated controls to get to where he needs to be. In fact, he only has two options: move and jump.
You start the level by tapping on the screen. Once you tap and Jack starts moving, you can’t stop him or change direction manually. You’ll have to bump into an obstacle like a wall or a ledge to go backwards.
The level ends when Jack and Jill are reunited. There isn’t a score or rating system that you need to worry about. All you need to focus on is getting to Jill. There are 60 levels right now that you can play through.
The only in-app purchase is the option to remove ads. It costs $0.99. The ads run along the top of the screen, and they’re not intrusive.
I enjoyed playing this adorable game. It’s entertaining for both older kids and adults. There are enough levels to keep you busy, and the simple controls make this game something that you’ll have to go try for yourself.
