Quirky App Of The Day: Trojan Temple Soldier Vegetable Slayer Is A Mouthful

June 21, 2013

Trojan Temple Soldier Vegetable Slayer (Free) by Appire, LLC is a shooter game that allows you to take revenge against all the vegetables you wish you didn’t have to eat. I’d love to say that only children feel this way about leafy greens, but I still can’t stand them. So, I put arrows through them to show my disgust.

Well, it’s technically not me. It’s a Trojan temple soldier. His goal is to shoot arrows at the vegetables that are popping up into the air. When his arrows make contact with the veggies, they’ll be pinned to the temple column behind them. You’ll need to help the soldier shoot 10 vegetables to move on to the next level.

These levels are timed. Each level has 40 seconds for you to meet your goal. If you run out of time, it’s game over. I made it to level 13 before I let the time run out to see what would happen. I could easily have kept going.

One problem that I ran into several times was an issue with the ads. There are pop up ads that appear after every level. The problem is that this app is one of those games that keeps going after you reach the next level. There’s not really a break. The timer resets, and the vegetables keep flying. The problem is that you’ll be tapping like crazy to hit the veggies, and an ad will pop up. You accidentally hit the ad, and the app redirects you. It was annoying.

Aside from the problem with the ads, I enjoyed how much thought went into the game. You have to take into account the distance from the soldier to the vegetables when you aim. You also have to consider the falling speed of the vegetables. This wasn’t an app where I could just tap as fast as I could and hope to hit something.

Trojan Temple Soldier Vegetable Slayer is an iPhone app, and it’s available in the App Store for FREE!
