American Wordspeller™ & Phonetic Dictionary
"Find Word by the Way it Sounds"

Type in 2-4 letters of your word by "how it sounds to you". Spell it just how it SOUNDS to you. NO spelling RULES required. If you spell the first 2-3 letters wrong, good, this dictionary will find your word no matter how you spell it as long as the letters SOUND right to you. Over 68,000 common, everyday words. This dictionary excludes most words if they start with a capitalized letter at the beginning unless the word is common to everyone (such as the word "Saturday"or "March").

Remember, just type the first 2-4 letters that you think your word starts with into the Search bar. If there are too many word choices...add more letters to narrow your search.

FOUR RESOURCE TOOLS IN ONE

•Very brief definitions to help you quickly understand the meaning of a word.

•Your word will have Cross-References if is sounds or is spelled similar to other words. Examples:

petal/ pedal/ peddle
metal/meddle/medal/mettle/middle
carrot/ caret/ karat/ carat
immigrant/ emigrant

•Suffix Speller - root word spelled out with all suffix endings attached.
Example: 'mad':
mad = madder, maddest, madden, maddening, maddeningly, madly, madness

•Prefixes listed along with their definition. Example:
satisfied = dis (for dissatisfied) / un (unsatisfied)
