Dogs may actually be the same species as wolves. If they are the a different species, they are referred to as Canis familiaris. If they are the same they are called Canis lupus familiaris. They were domesticated from wolves thousands of years ago, and have more variation between breeds than any other pet. They do a wide range of jobs that help humans every day. Dogs need to eat meat in order to obtain vitamin D, but they can eat many vegetables too.

Border collies are some of the most intelligent dogs, and they excel at many obedience competitions. They traditionally herd sheep, but they can also do well in sports such as flyball and agility. They feature very heavily in freestyle heelwork to music, which is a very fun obedience competition to watch.
