Dart Dice

by Steven PETERSON

What is it about?

This is an original version of a classic dart game called cricket played by rolling six dice. It is a "pass and play" two player game where players must close out 1 through 6 and S (for "straight") on the scoreboard by hitting each three times. On each turn the current player can roll up to six dice three times (as in Yahtzee) while keeping as many dice as the player wants for scoring. To hit a number, the player must roll that number on at least two dice (the first representing aiming the dart and the second matching number representing hitting the target). A three of a kind is scored as a double, and a four of a kind is scored as a triple, etc. To score a straight, the player needs to roll either 1-5 or 2-6. Rolling 1-6 is scored as a double straight. Points are accumulated for hitting numbers that the player has closed when the opponent has not closed them. Numbers are scored for their values (1-6), and a straight is worth 12 points. To win, the player needs to close the scoreboard with at least the same number of points as the opponent.
