This App was created to provide information on crimes or suspicious activity in your area, in order to provide you with information that can help prevent you from becoming a victim of random crime. (We don’t make any guarantees for your safety, but information is the best line of defense.)

Additionally, we are also showing the locations of Police/Sheriff’s stations in your geographical location. If someone is following you, the best course of action is to drive straight to a police station.

Here are some tips and explanations for using this App.

CRIME LOCATOR:
This function allows you to see crimes in your geographic location for a radius of up to 5 miles. If you wish to see beyond that there is a one-time lifetime unlock fee of 99 cents.

CRIME FILTER:
This function allows you to choose the crimes you wish to be made aware of in your general location with a radius of 5 miles. Again, if you wish to see beyond that radius, the same one-time unlock fee of 99 cents applies. (If you unlock one radius function, it automatically unlocks the other for the same price).

This function is more need-specific. For example, if you want to go jogging, you would hit the alerts for homicide, assault, and sexual offenders. You wouldn’t necessarily need the home burglary, car-break-in, or arson alerts in order to feel good about your jog. Or if you want to take your kids to a park, you can hit the alerts for sex offenders. Or if you’re looking for a place to live you can hit the home burglaries, car-break in, and assault icons.

The algorithms in the app will give you a danger level to guide your decision-making process. (Again, realize, that even though the risk is low, you are always going to be a potential victim for crime no matter where you are, so we don’t guarantee your safety).

REPORT A CRIME:
If you witness a crime or suspicious activity, or if you hear of a crime or suspicious activity, you should post it. That post will automatically populate the Crime Locator maps and the Crime Filter (much like Waze does for car accidents).

That post you create will also go out into the Alerts section and if the post is relevant to other’s geographical location, they will get that alerts on their phone. This is really good for neighborhood watch groups, parents at schools or parks, anyone involved in a solo activity like jogging or hiking. It’s a way to cut down on criminal activity by making everyone aware of what the criminals are doing.

A good example would be two girlfriends hanging out at a mall, or the beach, or the movies and a suspicious person comes over and begins to bother them. They move to another location or report the individual. They then upload the incident in the Report a Crime function and give a description of the person. That alert will then go to others in the area and they will be on the lookout and can then avoid the same disturbance. If police download this app and follow it, they will also have a heads-up and may want to also be on the lookout. (It might be a good idea to recommend to the local police or sheriffs to download the app for this very reason).

Another example is, you are home and you notice people in your neighborhood knocking on doors. And then witness them peering into windows. You can then upload this information on the Report a Crime and all your neighbors who have MyPocketAngel on their phones will get the alerts and can take preventive measures to protect themselves from door-knock robberies.

PLEASE USE THIS FUNCTION RESPONSIBLY. REPORTING FALSE CRIMES OR INCIDENTS, CREATES FALSE STATISTICS WHICH IS HARMFUL TO OTHERS.

This is a way for people to connect with each other. People can ask questions, and other people can answer.

ALERTS:
This is where you get the alerts from others reporting incidents in your area.

SETTINGS:
This is where you turn your notifications “on”, get Help and Logout.
