Be a Nature Maestro®
Kids, parents, and educators, play four visual and auditory memory matching games using Christine Walker’s colorful illustrations, and Dennis Hysom’s animal and nature sounds recorded on location in Costa Rican rainforest and Glacier Bay, Alaska.
Tap each tile to flip it over and see if you find a match. Challenge yourself, your family, friends and classmates. While playing, enjoy four original, instrumental compositions from Dennis. Time yourself for a personal best and share your scores with friends.
Nature Maestro Challenge empowers environmental education. Listen and learn as you match images to sounds. Raise the stakes and fine-tune your skills in the sound-to-sound round. Test your knowledge in the name-that-animal round and hear the common and scientific name pronunciations.
Animals and soundtracks in Challenge include Howler Monkey, Strawberry Poison-dart Frog, Montezuma Oropendola, Purple-throated Mountaingem, Green Ibis, Blue Morpho, Ocelot, Boa Constrictor, Bare-throated Tiger Heron, Collared Peccary, Smokey Jungle Frog, Harbor Seal, Barrow’s Goldeneye, Bald Eagle, Steller Sea Lion, Glacier Calving, Humpback Whale and many more!

Challenge is COPPA compliant. Each time a user wants to leave the app to access iTunes Connect, parental confirmation is required by a “parental gate.” To share game results and a screen image using social media (e.g., email, SMS, Facebook, Twitter), parental confirmation is required to enter a “parental zone.” Parental zone approval remains valid for 2.5 minutes, then parental confirmation is required again.
To bring Nature Maestro® Challenge to life, 215 images were hand drawn by Christine, and 75 audio files were mixed and recorded by Dennis. All of the art is original and not clip art. All of the animal audio was recorded on location. A special thanks to Dr. John McCosker of the California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco for his assistance in reviewing the animal facts and scientific name pronunciations.
