DESCRIPTION

The application is intended for practicing veterinarians specializing in companion animals and allows users to perform fast and accurate calculation of the required dosage administration of emergency medication for each patient, depending on body weight. Emergency medication is displayed based on the therapeutic effect and is presented as concentration available on the Romanian and European medical market. It is sorted into vertically columns, doses resulting from the use being directly displayed as follows: first column - dosages in milliliters per animal (ml); in the second column -dosage in unit per animal (e.g. milligrams); in the third column - the dose units per kg (e.g. mg/kg). In cases where doses are expressed as a range (eg. 50-100 mg/kg), the resulting calculations are made automatically based on the minimum dose.

This simple and effective software application is provided with a cursor for selecting body mass in units of 1 kg between 1-70 kg, and provides the safety of administration of adequate doses, thus contributing to the implementation of optimal therapeutic management of patients with critical conditions.

The application was developed within the project entitled “Developing and implementing a new Android application useful in veterinary emergency medicine”, project funded with the support of Fund for Bilateral Relations at National Level of Programme RO01 - Technical Assistance and Fund for Bilateral Relations at National Level by the EEA and Norway Grants 2009-2014. However, due to the large interest for the application shown by many colleagues and veterinary professionals from all over the world, Apple fans, we decided to offer the app in an iOS friendly version. So, we are more than happy to share the app in a new framework, but with the same goal of helping critical patients.

Romanian Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society (RoVECCS) is a non-profit organization that aims to help through this application the veterinarian facing an emergency and can timely provide an effective medical strategy.

This app is designed for trained veterinary personnel and is available for free. It was developed by a team composed of veterinarians (Cosmin Mureșan, DVM, PhD, Andreas Lervik, DVM, Dipl. ECVAA) and medical software architects (Florin Cumpănaşu, DVM, Igor Știrbu, Vica Forogău).
The authors of this application do not assume liability for information resulting from using this application, for any therapeutic decisions, doses of medication used and any changes in international therapeutic protocols. Downloading and using this application does not result in any contract or obligation between the owners of this application and the user. The authors reserve the right to make changes (updates) of the application based on existing veterinary medical information.
