The Search Party

The Search Party App is the bridge between George The Poet's words and your actions. On this app you'll find a special collection of my poems written specifically about the practical future of the world, i.e. Sustainable Development. These poems outline some of the issues facing development using real stories from George The Poet's life. Along with audio and video of each poem you'll also find a written breakdown of the lyrics. And if that's not enough, there is information about people out there tackling these issues, and what you can do to help. All you have to do is follow the on-screen instructions at the end of a poem: Sign Something (like a petition); Do Something (like give to charity); or Start Something (like a social enterprise). Stepping out of your comfort zone into the world of social action might seem a little intimidating at first but d'you know what? We reckon you could do it. What's your role? Ask yourself that every time you hit Get Involved, and you'll be surprised what you find with the help of a Search Party.

Why are we doing this? In September 2015 the United Nations launched the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda, made up of 17 global goals for Sustainable Development. These aspirations laid out a vision for a fairer, safer planet to be achieved by the year 2030 (mad soon). The easiest thing to say about about this list is that it's crazy and unlikely to come to pass ever, let alone in the next 13 years. The harder thing to acknowledge is that the world would be an unbelievably better place if we even pulled off half of this in double the time. Harder still is admitting that it's not just the UN's responsibility. It's our world and therefore our problem if none of these goals materialise. Let's learn more about each goal and pressure ourselves to make them all happen.
