App Store Description

VisUplan is a visual planning app for all visual learners.

Benefits of planning out one’s day using VisUplan include:

1) eases anxiety

2) brings structure to day to day life

3) helps prevent sensory overload

4) helps reduce distractions with the simple UI and timer enabled for each task

The below VisUplan features support and encourage inclusivity for various neurodiversity's:

VisUplan mimics a visual calendar (a common classroom tool) virtually and allows one to plan out your schedule days, weeks, and months in advance.

Calendar Page: When scheduling a task you pick a date, time, location like any other ical app. However, VisUplan goes a step further by allowing you to select an icon to represent each task from the icon bank or even upload your own icon from your photo album.

Daily View Page: Daily task are listed in a vertical format. You can click on a task to start it and a timer will appear at the top of the screen. This will allow you to stay on task for a set amount of time and make it easier to focus. This supports good time management practices and encourages self reliance.

Rewards Page: Unlike many other ical and visual calendar apps VisUplan has rewards! Users can set their own rewards and point amounts. Automatically a user will receive 0.5 points for each task they complete. Once enough points are accumulated the user can reward themselves with a reward from this page.

VisUplan helps users stay on track and hold themselves accountable. It brings structure to unstructured environments and is anxiety relieving for many students.

VisUplan is aimed for a wide user-base including but not limited to: young children individuals with autism, adhd, or any visual learner.

The CDC reports several corelations between people with ADHD and autism:
1) People with ADHD and autism often use related resources
2) 90% of people with ADHD use outside resources
3) Online Resources are proven to improve communication of Autistic children
4) Visual resources have been proven to be helpful to both autistic people and people with ADHD

Around 30 to 80 percent of autistic children also have signs of ADHD. 20 to 50 percent of children with ADHD have signs of being autistic.

According to researchers at the Aalborg University in Aalborg, Denmark even micro-interactions with digital visual planners is enough to provide the needed guidance for people living with ADHD (source: 2_poster_bertel.pdf (ceur-ws.org))

According to researchers at the University of New Mexico’s Center for Development and Disability, “Using visual information to communicate with your child is taking advantage of how children with ASD naturally prefer to communicate and can reduce their frustration” (source: The Benefits of Visual Supports for Children with Autism (autismparentingmagazine.com))

We are VisUplan and we are planning a better today for visual and autistic learners for a successful tomorrow!

Testimonials:

"I’m a Behavioral Therapist and my clients like to use a big visual timer to help them transition from one activity to the next! That would be very helpful for my clients as well as the Occupational Therapists at the clinic!"

"Adding the ability [was helpful] to take real pictures for the icons. Some kids have a hard time making the connection between real and representation."

"Children would be motivated by the rewards - they each are motivated by various things, so that would be nice to have it customizable for the families. :)"
