App Store Description

Berks Community Murals and West Reading Community Revitalization Foundation are pleased to announce West Reading Museum of Temporary Art (WRMOTA), a borough-wide mural project featuring over 100 public works created by artists from across the globe. The project launches on May 1st and is scheduled to continue through October 2018.

You are invited to explore a collection of brick-sized murals installed on the walls of homes and businesses throughout West Reading. With this app, you can locate the collection of works and listen to audio recordings that inspired them.

West Reading Museum of Temporary Art seeks to unearth personal histories of the borough that would otherwise remain unrecorded. Each mural is a response to a story told by a local site-owner that reflects a memory related to the specific location.

Themes of community, nostalgia, connection and loss arise from dozens of catalogued stories collected across generations and interpreted by artists from Spain, Germany, the Netherlands, UK and all over the United States, including a selection of local Berks County participants

---

WRMOTA is a collaboration between Berks Community Murals, students in Wyomissing Area High School’s Public Art Workshop and Humanities classes and BESTTEST, a California-based collaborative duo with West Reading roots, focused on making art through social engagement.

WRMOTA is generously funded by West Reading Elm Street, a program of the West Reading Community Revitalization Foundation, along with the Wyomissing Area Education Foundation and Wyomissing Area School District.
