iPhone 3G S Shipments Arrive At AT&T Stores, But The Waiting Game Continues

June 18, 2009

Who knew waiting to get your hands on an iPhone 3G S could be so unbearable?  Waiting until June 19th wouldn't have been so bad, but Apple and AT&T provided everyone with tracking numbers and ever since then, the wait has been that much more difficult. We have already documented the often changing delivery information for pre-orders from Apple's online store, but if you pre-ordered your iPhone 3G S through AT&T you may have noticed that your device has made it safely to an AT&T store.  But, there is a catch, you still can't pick it up until launch day:
Your iPhone is ready and can be picked up at your local AT&T store as early as June 19th. For your convenience AT&T stores will open at 7 AM on June 19th. Remember you have 7 days from this notification to visit your AT&T store to pick up your order. Please bring your receipt and a valid ID when you pick up your order and be sure your account is in good standing to avoid any unnecessary delays. If you are exchanging a device that was purchased within the last 30 days the device must be in new condition with all original packaging accessories manuals and proof of purchase. Returns and exchanges may be subject to a restocking fee except where prohibited. Please visit www.att.com/returns for more details.
Some of our readers have attempted to coerce AT&T employees into allowing them to pick up their iPhone 3G S early, but as far as we know, no one has succeeded.  AT&T is standing firm, stating that you must be in line tomorrow morning to pick up your new device.  AT&T is also recommending that if you pre-ordered your iPhone 3G S, you should be at your retail location by at least 6:30 AM, because if you get there after 7:00 AM, you will be stuck waiting in line with the regular folks even if you pre-ordered your device. I know it's painful, but just try to contain your excitement a little while longer, we are almost there. [Thanks Odie for the tip!]
