Review: Annie's Wild Shot

August 23, 2009

Overview What would happen if you crossed a spaghetti western film with Japanese Anime? No, the space-time continuum would not implode in on itself, but your brain might in this crazy and hyperactive version of the Old Wild West. Can your attention span survive Annie's Wild Shot? Features The game comes with a multitude of different options and features in terms of the touch-based and accelerometer control scheme. You can either touch the screen or tilt the phone in order to move around to another part of the screen. If paint blocks your vision, wipe the screen clean with your finger. You also use your finger to reload by swiping across the screen. The Breakdown The Good: I really liked the graphics in this game. They are very cartoonish and cutesy, but it works very well. The controls are, for the most part, very responsive except for a few minor bumps here and there. (I'll get into those in the "Bad" section) The variety of stuff you need to do is also a big plus here. Shooting out windows and doors as well as bandits adds more to the levels than just killing the bad guys. There's also lots of other things to do other than just shooting. You have one level that's completely dark and you have to use a flashlight to find the enemies, another level has you wiping off paint from the screen, etc. The Bad: As I said above, some of the controls are a little unresponsive here. When you reload, it doesn't work as smoothly as it should and that causes you health and points at times. There are also times you swear you tapped the right spot on the screen, but you miss your target regardless. The Verdict So is this game worth the price? Absolutely. It's very entertaining and the game looks amazing. If you are a fan of Westbang, this is one you should pick up. There is a Free version as well so give that a try before buying if you are a little wary on purchasing this one. Either way, I don't think this will disappoint any western fan.
