When Team17 first released Worms for the iPhone and iPod touch, people were ecstatic, but that was only until they started playing the game.  Worms launched with quite a few issues, with probably the worst being a very poor framerate.  Team17 has finally responded with an update that not only fixes the framerate issue, but goes above and beyond with a tons of other fixes and features. worms_screenWorms is a turn-based strategy game where players take turns controlling a team of, you guessed it, worms.  The idea is to destroy the other team or teams by utilizing one of the many weapons at your disposal.  You can also utilize the terrain in a variety of ways since it is completely destructible.  The game features updated cartoon-style visuals, 50 different challenges, 6 unique environments, and much more. Besides fixing the performance issues, Worms v1.0.1 also features:
  • The option to change graphical settings for increased performance in game.
  • More responsive camera controls, including the ability to make the camera zoom further in for a closer look at the action.
  • The ability to flip the game screen based on the orientation of your device.
  • Improved Ninja Rope controls allowing even more death-defying rope stunts.
  • The ability to unleash devastating weapons on your enemies from the safety of a parachute.
  • Shorter AI enemy thinking times.
  • Highly improved back-flip and jump controls, including a new finger swipe method to make sure you never accidentally jump worms into the water again.
  • The facility to customise the game even further by creating your own enemy teams.
If you have been waiting to give Worms a try on your iPhone or iPod touch, now is the time thanks to a very meaningful update.  Worms is available in the App Store for $4.99.
