MobileNavigator Updated With Live Traffic Data As An In-App Purchase
In mid-September Navigon announced that they would be bringing live traffic data to their killer turn-by-turn iPhone navigation app, MobileNavigator, sometime during the month of October. Well, October has obviously passed, so technically they missed their target date, but at least the update is now available in early November. MobileNavigator v1.3 is now available in the App Store and it features the ability to view live traffic data, albeit at a cost. Navigon Traffic Live, as the feature is being called, is accessible via the "More" tab located at the bottom of the screen. You can then navigate your way to "Extras" and you will see a single in-app purchase available for $19.99. If we are to believe what Navigon claimed back in September, this is merely a discounted price that should stick during the first four weeks of availability. After that, the price may be going up to $24.99, which is still not too shabby since it is a one-time fee. Navigon Traffic Live will provide users with precise real-time traffic information pulled from over one million drivers across the country. It will also use information from traffic cameras, speed sensors, and conventional traffic messages to do the deed. MobileNavigator v1.3 also features extended map area search after destination input, and the ability to launch the app in landscape mode. MobileNavigator North America is available in the App Store for $89.99, which together with the new in-app purchase will push the total price all the way to $109.98. If any of our AppAdvice readers have a chance to give the new feature a try, come back and tell us what you think. We want to hear if you think it is worth it and if it is the final nail in TomTom's coffin.
