TomTom v1.2 Now Available, Includes iPod Touch Support

November 18, 2009

It looks like the app approval process is running right on schedule.  Just last week informed you that TomTom had submitted a much-needed update for its iPhone navigation app to Apple for approval, and now it's available for download. The update includes everything we outlined last week, including advanced lane guidance that operates in both landscape and portrait mode, text-to-speech, a “Help Me” feature that provides direct access to emergency numbers and directions to the nearest emergency providers, customizable audio warnings, iPod player control, and updated maps, POIs, and IQ routes.  TomTom v1.2 also features improved search and route summary screens. What wasn't highlighted last week, and what comes as somewhat of a surprise, is that the update adds support for all of Apple's mobile devices.  Yes, even all models of the iPod touch.  This should mean that you can now turn your iPod touch into a full-fledged mobile navigation device, as long as you purchase TomTom's car kit that is. The TomTom v1.2 update is available to all current TomTom app owners for free.  TomTom U.S. & Canada is available in the App Store for $99.99. Besides a live traffic feed, what else would you like to see TomTom add in the next update?
