Apple In Talks With Publishers To Provide Tablet Content

January 19, 2010

As I told you earlier, the field is heating up around Apple's tablet and with the 27th getting closer, it's going to get nearly impossible for Steve to keep the secret much longer. Is it a good thing? Well, I guess it's the fundamental dilemma for every Apple fanboy, while we're trying to find out as much as we can, we'd still like to be surprised next week. In the meantime, we're hearing some new rumors about the kind of content we'll be getting on our tablets. The Wall Street Journal is reporting today that Apple would be in talks with publishers, more precisely Harper Collins at the moment, to provide some form of enhanced ebooks for the tablet. It's rumored to work similarly to app distribution, publishers would provide the content through an App Store-like interface and Apple would keep a cut for the favor. The WSJ seems to be doing a pretty good job at nailing Apple leaks those day, I'm however convinced that Apple will be launching its new toy with a myriad of content distributors, and Harper is just the top of the iceberg. Anyway, do you feel like we're spoiling it for you? [via Engadget]
