New Admob Report: The Touch Is Going Strong For 17 And Under

February 26, 2010

Yesterday Admob released its January 2010 Mobile Metrics report and their findings seem to present some interesting new trends for the iPhone OS world. For starters, it looks like the iPod touch is particularly popular among younger users.  While the age distribution is well balanced on most platforms (see chart), two out of three iPod touch owner are now under 17. Does it mean that the iPod touch is for kids? Probably not, the truth is that they're just buying an awful lot of them. This is actually not that innocent. With almost 90% of touch owners declaring they would recommend the device, the prospects of this early lock-on effect for Apple are extremely interesting for the future. Furthermore, they are also consuming a lot more apps than iPhone users, and almost just as many paid ones. No surprise that Apple lets you get an iTunes gift card in pretty much every grocery store these days.

Say hello to the i(Phone) generation.
