Developer Mogeneration has revealed that their upcoming medical encyclopedia app for the iPad, Carter's Encyclopedia of Health and Medicine, has been accepted and approved by Apple and will be available for the iPad App Store's grand opening on April 3rd. The unique thing about Carter's Encyclopedia of Health and Medicine is that it will actually be making its debut on the iPad, as the print and iPhone version will follow at a later time.
Carter's Encyclopedia of Health and Medicine for the iPad is intended to give you the look and feel of a hardcover encyclopedia with the ease of use of an iPad app. The app features over 12,000 entries provided by Medwords that in printed form would equal about 1,800 pages of content. Even with all of this content the app only weighs in at around 50MB.
Carter's Encyclopedia of Health and Medicine will come loaded with features that will make navigating the 12,000+ entries a breeze. It features a full-text search to find specific items, or you can use the interactive body diagram and simply touch a section of the body to bring up a pop-up menu with items related to that section. Pages can be bookmarked with a simple tap of of the star located in the upper right-hand corner of the screen.
Other features conveniently located at the top of the screen include the ability to browse items alphabetically, browsing history, and the ability to change font sizes on the fly.
Carter's Encyclopedia of Health and Medicine is the kind of app many people envisioned for the iPad; one that is able to provide the same amount of content as a book with an easy to read screen and a handful of features that make finding items simple and intuitive.
Carter's Encyclopedia of Health and Medicine will be hitting the App Store on April 3rd for the introductory price of $9.99.
