Apple Opens International iPad Pre-Orders

May 10, 2010

Although a month behind schedule, we're glad to inform you that Apple has finally started taking pre-orders for the iPad outside the US. So for all of you in Canada, the UK, Australia, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain or Switzerland who don't have an iPad yet, it's time to pre-order (prices). Then, if everything goes well, Apple's new "magic and revolutionary device" will be delivered to your door by May 28th.

The process and the product are fairly the same as in the US, the main difference being that Apple allows customers in certain countries to pick their 3G carrier during the ordering process. Further on, Apple's European websites put more emphasis on the fact that the iPad is truly unlocked.

Be aware that Apple does not list somehow all the available data carriers for the iPad in many countries and you might be better off getting a data plan separately on your own. I just pre-ordered the perfect 32GB 3G model in Switzerland myself and I'll keep you updated.
