mSpot - iPhone Video Rental

May 27, 2010

Is there a new app aiming to replace iTunes Rentals? It definitely looks like it. mSpot is a promising movie rental app that allows you to stream full-length movies directly to your iPhone over 3G.

First introduced as a web application back in September of '09mSpot looks to fill the void left by Netflix, as there is no official Netflix app for the iPhone yet. It has a vast collection of movies since they aren't exactly new to this, having apps already available for Web OS, Android OS, Blackberry OS, and PC. Most popular movies are priced at $5. This price is reasonable, but not overwhelmingly cheaper than most services. However, some older movies are even listed as free, and it's quite convenient as you can use it on-the-go and over-the-air.

mSpot looks promising and I hope it delivers as good of a service as they say. The app has a good standard-looking layout, so you will find yourself with a very familiar interface. One of their most intriguing features is their multi-device platform sync. Because of this, you can start a movie on, say, your iPod Touch, then switch to your computer later on to continue where you left off.

mSpot for iPhone is now available free of charge so go check it out!
