Take The Boston Symphony Orchestra With You, Wherever You Go

July 17, 2010

Boston is, and has been, the home of a great many things: the Red Sox, Quincy Market, Frasier Crane (before his relocation to Seattle), and the Boston Symphony Orchestra - the latter of which has just released an official iPhone app that allows users to carry the entire orchestra around with them, in their pockets. The application, officially named BSO Media Center, connects users with the Boston Symphony Orchestra (BSO), Boston Pops, Tanglewood, and Symphony Hall for quick and easy access on the go. Additionally, users of the app can also find exclusive information on the BSO, as well as become eligible for certain special offers. Tickets for the orchestra's shows may be purchased, alongside merchandise and digital music - the latter of which may be sampled, and purchased in-app.

The BSO's award-winning classical companion can also be accessed in the application, and users may also check out the orchestra's weekly podcasts, which give an exclusive insight into the inner-workings of the orchestra. This aspect of the app effectively grants users what the developer describes as a "virtual concert-going experience," meaning you're never more than a click away from experiencing the sheer force and power of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, wherever you are. And, what's more, the app is free - so you have no excuse not to check it out in the App Store now! As always, let us know what you think of BSO's app in the comments box below.
