Gowalla Gets General Improvements And Retina Display Use Upgrade

July 6, 2010

Gowalla, another location-based social networking app, has gotten regular maintenance treatment, iOS 4 and iPhone 4 enhancements in version 2.2. While the general user interface received an overhaul, Alamofire plans to continue the polishing by making pins, stamps and item graphics look gorgeous from behind-the-scenes. Additionally, Gowalla received improved location handling and fast app switching support with the help of iOS 4's multitasking abilities. Adding address book integrations makes signing up, finding friends, and inviting friends that much quicker and easier. Gowalla allows you to discover new places and share where you've been and things you've seen. Similar to apps like Loopt and Foursquare, you earn pins, stamps, and other achievements by simply "checking in." Check into a participating business and have a chance to earn a special offer for free items or discounts. Create and take part in multi-point "trips" to earn more and discover some great new locations. Keep track of the pins and stamps you've earned, photos you've taken along the way, trips you've created, bookmarks you've set, and how your Facebook and Twitter friends compare to you using your passport. Which is your favorite location-based app, or do you use all of them?
