Pro HDR App Could Be History Thanks To Apple

Pro HDR App Could Be History Thanks To Apple

September 3, 2010
The folks at eyeApps LLC probably weren't happy with Steve Jobs this week. When their app, Pro HDR was released in August, they were the only game in town that allowed iPhone 4 users the ability to capture HDR photos. Since Apple is going to offer this feature as part of the 4.1 update for iPhone/iPod touch, eyeApps's app could become dated, and its cost unnecessary for many. After all, Apple's version will be free. High Dynamic Range (HDR) allows for combining multiple exposures into a single image. It can reduce or eliminate a photo's blown-out sky or dark foreground. I've used the app and it certainly makes photos look significantly better. And, as of right now, it is the only way to take an HDR photo on the iPhone/iPod touch. At $1.99, it is certainly worth the price. Still, until we can compare it to Apple's version, its anyone's guess if the app will remain worth the extra cost. Of course, this is a shame, since the app's creators spent a lot of time and money developing the app. Pro HDR is available in the App Store today for $1.99. This is a $1.00 savings from when the app first debuted.
