FaceTime For Mac Beta Security Hole No More

October 22, 2010
The one day old FaceTime for Mac security hole has been fixed. Originally, it was easy to change someone’s iTunes password in the application. Now, Apple has corrected the problem with a server-side workaround which requires no software update. To bring up your account information there is now a section called “View Account.” When you click on this, you will see...nothing. Obviously, this was a quick fix for Apple. In the future, when you click on the “View Account” setting it will actually show your account, allowing you to change your password. For right now, that ability is not available.

Before the security fix, users were able to change the iTunes password without first typing in the old password. With the problem resolved, enjoy your free FaceTime for Mac beta!
