Great news, jailbreakers: earlier today, MuscleNerd (of the Dev-Team) posted some pretty exciting news to his Twitter account:
Think we've figured out a way to extend [email protected] hacks to untethered JBs for all future A4 firmwares :)This means all future versions of the iOS will be "jailbreakable" until Apple fixes the geohot exploit on a hardware level, in a future generation of the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. If you already own one such iDevice, rest assured in the knowledge that you'll [probably] be able to jailbreak it forever and ever! As mentioned, the news only applies to devices powered by Apple's A4 chip, these being the: iPhone 4, iPad, and iPod touch 4G. Obviously, this doesn't rule out potential jailbreaks for earlier generations, it just means that a jailbreak isn't certain. We'll keep you posted on this ever growing jailbreak saga as more news becomes available, so check back for regular updates! And, thanks to iSpazio for spotting this.
