Watch Magical Images Come To Life With Apalon's New Optical Illusions App For iPhone And iPad

Apalon has decided to take another crack at the optical illusions genre by releasing Magical Images for iPhone and iPad, an app that makes basic static images come to life. It's no wonder the developer is obsessed with optical illusions as much as we are, as their previous entertainment app, Eye Illusions, broke into the top five paid apps shortly after it was released.
Magical Images allows you to browse through a collection of static images that aren't exactly eye-catching, at least on the surface. The magic comes in when you finally settle on an image and bring the grid of vertical stripes into play, which can be done by tapping on the grid-like button at the bottom of the screen. Then just slide your finger from one side of the screen to the other and watch the image come to life.
You can control the speed of the animation with the tip your finger, but you can really get an idea of how the effect is achieved by moving slowly. Basically, the grid overlay fills in the white gaps in the image while replacing the vertical black lines as you move.
The app includes a total of 48 images to animate, the ability to save your favorites for easy access, and the ability to rate each image.
Magical Images for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad is now available in the App Store for $.99. It's a universal app, so you won't have to worry about purchasing separate copies for your different iDevices.
