Gmail iOS WebApp Gets A Massive Performance Boost & Refined Look

February 18, 2011
Gmail, and its Google Apps e-mail cousin are by far one of the best email service you can find out there. On iOS unfortunately, the native e-mail client tends to not always satisfy the needs of power users because of its lack of true support for such things as labels, Priority Inbox or simply proper search. Thankfully, Gmail has always had one of the best WebApps in the market, with support for both iPad and iPhone, as well as local storage and much more. Its main issue was however one of many WebApps, performance. Thanks to some incredible improvements unrolled moments ago, it's now a problem of the past. As we just noticed, the Gmail WebApp has just been given what we could call a complete re-haul. It looks much better, loading it is takes just seconds, and navigating through emails and folders is instantaneous. Not to mention you can now easily access the different parts of the priority inbox in the navigation. It's quite incredible as Google proves once again how much can be done using just the web, and bridging the gap between web and native. As for notification of incoming emails, let us remind you about the great Google Mobile App, which recently added Push Notification support for Gmail. If you haven't already, go check it out by visiting gmail.com or your Google Apps email account from an iDevice, and tell us what you think.
