Yesterday, a "Reuters eye witness" supposedly saw a second generation iPad at News Corp.'s special event. At the event, Apple and News Corp. unveiled The Daily: a new digital publication, which premiered exclusively on the iPad. Comically, in a room full of tech journalists, someone was rumored to be playing around on an iPad 2. As Reuters reports:
A Reuters eyewitness saw what appeared to be a working model of the next iPad with a front-facing camera at the top edge of the glass screen at a press conference to mark the debut of News Corp’s Daily online paper in New York on Wednesday. A source with knowledge of the device confirmed its existence, adding that the final release model could have other features. News Corp and Apple declined to comment.Personally, I'm not sure if I believe this. Perhaps the eye witness thought he saw the iPad 2, but in fact just saw a first generation iPad. The excitement of The Daily may have clouded his judgement. I just can't imagine Apple bringing an iPad 2 prototype to a tech media event. Furthermore, it's probably safe to say that nearly everyone in the room yesterday had a smart phone of some kind with them. Couldn't somebody have taken a picture? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
