Remedy Shares A Few iPad Screenshots Of Their Upcoming iOS Remake Of Death Rally

February 25, 2011
Earlier this year, we shared the word that Remedy is bringing their explosive top-down racing game, Death Rally, to the iOS platform. It isn't much, but we now have a few iPad screenshots for fans to marvel at before the game is shown off to select parties at GDC and makes a full release sometime next month. The details are scarce, but to old fans and newcomers alike it looks to be a worthy addition to the iOS App Store. The only things we know thus far are that it's planned for a March release and it will be available on the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. While I could do my own overview description, I feel Remedy did a nice job summarizing it themselves.
In late 1996 this top-down racing game took all by surprise with it's addictive nature and excellent gameplay. The basic idea behind Death Rally: win races, gather more money, buy upgrades to your vehicle. In between wreck your opponents, shoot your way through bystanders and keep the pedal to the metal!
In order to make this remake possible, there's a team effort amongst Remedy, Mountain Sheep, and Cornfox & Brothers. Perhaps the names of these developers won't ring a bell, but the games they helped create should seem familiar to many of you. Remedy developed the third-person shooter hits Max Payne, Max Payne 2 - The Fall of Max Payne, and Alan Wake. Even though it's published by Chillingo, Mountain Sheep is the creative mind behind the addictive dual-stick shooter Minigore for iOS. If you're looking for a nostalgic feeling or just want something to feed the urge until the upgraded iOS version debuts; download the original game for free.
In 2009, Remedy was proud to announce the free re-release, Death Rally for Windows. The original game, ported to run on modern PCs. Please read the read me in the installation package for more information. Remedy does not offer any e-mail support for Death Rally.
I haven't been able to make work on Vista or Windows 7, but feel free to give it a try: Click here to download the Windows version of the 1996 Death Rally [gallery link="file"]
