Bing For iPad Arrives - Win For Microsoft

April 7, 2011
Microsoft has released its free Bing for iPad app, the tech giant’s first native app for the tablet. The app offers a visually appealing search experience, making it a compelling alternative to Google search. Called a “decision engine” by its creators, Bing for iPad allows users to search and browse news, movies, Bing homepage images, local businesses, and more. Other features include traffic, weather, and stock quotes. The app’s trends page is most impressive. It gives users a one-stop location to explore top stories from the most recent six days using a combination of photos and text. The news search page offers a scrolling look at current stories, including Top Stories, Politics, Sports, and more. This page is easily customized, allowing readers to exclude categories they aren’t interested in. Bing’s Local and Map integration help users find places with real-time tracking to immersive road, traffic, aerial and “bird’s eye” views. Finally, the app includes a voice-activated search, which is intuitive and quick. Bing for iPad, like the search site itself, is well made and an enjoyable alternative to industry-leading Google. It is available today in the App Store.
