Photogram (Free) by Timelines, Inc. is an image sharing app that helps you create quick and easy scrapbook-like images using a wide variety of templates.
With Photogram, your pictures are framed in thematic backdrops created by a wide variety of artists. There are themes for every occasion, from birthdays and baby showers to backyard barbecues and picnics. It’s great for sharing special moments with family and friends, and the images can be uploaded using email, Twitter, or Facebook.
Photogram is elegantly designed and easy to use. Tap to take a photo or add one from your camera album (it supports up to four), add a quick message, then choose your theme and a recipient. After that, your photo story is ready to go. It’s a four step process that is quick, intuitive, and streamlined.
Your photos can be sent individually, or to a group of recipients. Photogram makes it easy to create an organized list for your groups of contacts. Send those cute pictures of your kids to everyone in the family at once, and the pictures from that wild party to all your friends. Photogram is perfect for creating mini photo collages to share memories and to plan events. It’s also a great way to create personalized party invitations, thank you cards, and notes.
There are dozens of themes available with the initial download, and if you can’t quite find what you’re looking for, there are additional themes available as in-app purchases for $.99.
Photogram is well-designed and has a nice user interface. I could see using this to send photos to grandparents and other family members who don’t otherwise have access to your photos.
Unfortunately, I don’t think that this is an app that I will use. I was immediately put off by the need to enter an email address and password, this information is used to send you copies of the Photograms you’ve sent. I didn’t think that was a useful feature, and when I went to unsubscribe, the website would not connect.
Additionally, I thought that many of the templates were cheesy and unoriginal. Additional themes cost $.99 each. For a simple image. That seems ridiculously overpriced to me.
I share my photos on social networks and my blog, and have never really emailed images or needed to email images to multiple people at once. This app would likely be more functional for me if I could email or upload the images without a theme, because it does work flawlessly for sharing up to four photos at once. However, that is not an option.
If you routinely send photos to people, or are looking for a fun new way to share your pictures, Photogram is a solid choice. Now is a great time to check it out, because the developers are currently offering 26 free themes when you download the app.
