Tethered Jailbreak For iOS 5 Beta 6 "Jetblue Edition" Now Available

August 23, 2011
As announced by Musclenerd this morning, the iPhone Dev-Team has updated Redsn0w, the iOS jailbreaking tool to support the latest iOS beta released on Friday. Redsn0w 0.9.8b6 allows registered developers running iOS 5 beta 6 to jailbreak any iDevice (besides the iPad 2), get r00t, and test or work on jailbreak tweaks. Note that, as with the previous releases, Redsn0w 0.9.8b6 is a beta version of the tool strictly meant for developers, and it only provides a tethered jailbreak. If you don’t know what that means, you’re probably better off staying away from it. Furthermore, this new version requires you to go through an additional step before proceeding with the jailbreak, so make sure to read the instructions:
(1) Please let your device boot normally to IOS5b6 and do a clean shutdown (slide to power off) before jailbreaking.  (2) Boot logos have intentionally been disabled for now, so you’ll see a black screen on tethered boots (you can re-enable logos or verbose boot with command-line options if you really want them back).
Here are the download links:
The reference to Jetblue comes from the fact that Musclenerd made most of the update on a Jetblue flight. Any luck or problems? Share in the comments!
