Quirky App Of The Day: Swipe Dungeon

September 7, 2011
Swipe Dungeon is an adorable game. The characters are drawn with a wide brush in much the same fashion as a budding middle school artist would. I think it's great. I have an affinity for stick figures because of their simplicity, and Swipe Dungeon just adds to it. The monsters are even drawn as simple blobs with cute little eyes. It's hard to beat them with my sword when they're so sweet looking. The premise of the game is as simple as the characters. There are twenty floors to battle monsters through. The final boss is on the 20th floor, and each time you encounter a monster, your HP increases. Pretty nifty. There are fruits that increase your health. Each color of fruit restores a different number of HP. You can also store one fruit item to save for later. It's like a midnight snack or something. That's basically the entire game. A neat feature is the restriction on returning to the previous level. I am admittedly not the greatest navigator, and I would be three levels backward before I realized I was going in the wrong direction. There is also a map that you can check out if you get lost. The green spot is where you start, and the red spot is where you must go to complete the level. Swipe Dungeon is available on the App Store for the awesome price of FREE!
