White iPod touch Rumors Intensify - Will Likely Become Reality
September 20, 2011
The rumors surrounding the release of a white iPod touch are intensifying today, with more details on the release coming to light.
According to MacRumors, quoting their sources, Apple will unveil a new iPod touch at this year's fall event along with the iPhone 5. Reportedly, the device will be very similar to the current model, with the addition of a white version, as well as a better screen coating (to keep the dirt away) and an improved light sensor. Other than that, MacRumors is telling us we shouldn't expect any drastic change, especially not a 3G-capable antenna:
MacRumors has received information indicating that the next iPod touch revision will be a very minor change, with the primary addition being the introduction of a new white model. Only minor changes are expected for the existing hardware, with the addition of an oleophobic coating for the display and a revised ambient light sensor seemingly being the main differences. Otherwise, we expect the models to be nearly identical to the current fourth-generation iPod touch model. If true, and it makes a lot of sense in our opinion, this would confirm what was suggested by the many parts leaked over the last few weeks. We would be a bit disappointed if Apple didn't at least improve the camera on the iPod touch, as other than that it's already an amazing device. Knowing that the device is more of an off the shelf gadget, very popular among younger users, adding additional colors will certainly make the device even more appealing. As usual, we'll keep you posted if we hear anything new. (Image Credit: 9to5mac)
