DirecTV For iPad Updated With Live TV Streaming And Additional Recording Options

Although it took much longer than many would have hoped, DirecTV customers are now able to stream live TV straight to their iPads thanks to the latest update to the company's official app. The update also adds a few other handy features that should make your TV viewing experience more enjoyable.
After installing DirecTV v1.3.1 on your iPad, just launch the app and you'll immediately be prompted with the option to add a Live TV Streaming module to the app's home screen. The new module displays each channel in order, but you can rearrange, add, and remove channels with a few quick taps.
Tapping on a channel will provide you with two options: Watch on iPad and Info. Tapping on the Watch on iPad option will immediately bring up a new floating window where you can watch live TV on your iPad. This window can be drug around the screen freely, providing you with access to the options behind it. You can also resize the window, or go into full screen mode. At the top of the window there are additional options, allowing you to watch the current channel on TV instead, view info, record the episode, or share what you are watching on Facebook or Twitter.
The new Live TV Streaming module includes a total of 38 channels including CNN, NFL Network, Food Network, USA, SyFy, TNT, TBS, Discovery, and Fox News. Of course, if you're not subscribed to a specific channel, you won't be able to watch it through the Live TV Streaming module on your iPad either.
The update also added the ability to set parental controls for Live TV Streaming, tips on how to best utilize all of the app's features, and the ability to change start and end times to add padding to the shows you're recording.
DirecTV for iPad is currently available in the App Store for free. You need to be a DirecTV subscriber located in the US with your home receiver connected to the Internet in order to utilize all of the app's features.
