Ghosts, Puzzles Combine In Messy Ghost HD
Messy Ghost HD ($0.99) by HolicPark makes you a matching ghost buster. Today’s app review is brought to you by the letter “G,” as in “gravity” and “ghost.”
You’ll need to use gravity to your advantage by making the like ghosts fall on top of each other.
Either spin the board to change which way is up, or use the “g-sensor” (accelerometer) to make the ghosts do somersaults. They’ll disappear once all three of them touch.
Five different modes are available for moving the ghosts: flick and g-sensor, flick and tilt, just flick, just g-sensor, and just tilt.
What I found interesting was that the mandatory tutorial walks you through sampling each control type. Once done, you then have to select which mode works best for you (don’t worry, you can always change it if you want).
I found the just flick mode to be the best method for me. It felt like I had more control. Using just the g-sensor felt like how I drive to work.
This game tends to become repetitive. After a while of doing the same thing, but for a different level, it’s hard to keep at it. The difficulty level flatlines as well, your only new challenge being how to move the ghosts past fixed blocks.
It’s not until you clear the first chapter that the game adds a new feature to mix things up a bit. First, skulls are added. These tumble around like the ghosts, though they are essentially blocks that get in the way.
Other special blocks include: a spider web (for trapping blocks), holy sphere (clear ghosts and skulls), and the invisible block (will only show when adjacent to other blocks).
That being said, this is still a very fun and addictive game. Go ahead and prove that you aren’t afraid of no ghosts. According to the app's page, it will only be on sale for $0.99 for a limited time.
