HeroClix assemble! Combining the popularity of Marvel superheroes and iPad gaming, the HeroClix TabApp will hit the App Store this fall. Using figure recognition technology, the app features real HeroClix miniatures with your iPad to offer exciting combat experiences in detailed virtual arenas. Players begin by placing a figure on their iPad to unlock special maps and exclusive content. They can then take out numerous digital villains with a tap or finger swipe while progressing to more challenging maps. There are more than 50 different virtual enemy figures throughout the game in more than 25 digital maps. The iPad app is set to be available for download in October, coinciding with the release of the miniatures especially designed for the game. The first set of miniatures will include popular favorites: Captain America, Thor, Wolverine, Cyclops, and Iron Man. The app will be free, but the price of the figures has not yet been released. More information about the game can be found at the app’s official website. The game definitely looks like fun, and I’ll be waiting to try it out on my iPad as long as the figures aren’t enormously expensive. If not, this could easily turn into Skylanders for iPad gaming.
