Capcom Is Officially Bringing Street Fighter X Tekken To iOS This Summer

June 17, 2012
After showing a curious demo of Street Fighter X Tekken running on an iPod touch in their booth at E3, Capcom has made it official: Street Fighter X Tekken Mobile will be hitting the App Store this summer. Street Fighter X Tekken is Capcom's latest crossover fighter that puts fan favorites like Ryu, Ken, and Chun-Li against the likes of Jin, Yoshimitsu, and others from Namco's Tekken series. The title originally launched for Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 last March and sold over 1.4 million units before the month was over. While the game is clearly a hit on consoles, will the iOS port fare just as well? Of course, the experience on iOS won't be as in-depth as it is on consoles due to the limitations of virtual keypads, but that didn't stop Street Fighter IV Volt from being a hit. It's safe to assume that features from Street Fighter IV Volt will be present in Street Fighter X Tekken, such as Wi-Fi multiplayer and Battle Network. If there's one thing Capcom knows, it's fighting games. If anything, this may be their best iOS offering yet. There's no official word on a price or release date yet. For now, "this summer" is all the information you get. Street Fighter x Tekken will be only be compatible with iPhone 4/4S, iPod touch (fourth generation), iPad 2, and the new iPad (all running iOS 5 or higher). Will you be looking forward to this? Or, do you think Capcom (and other developers) should stop porting console titles to iOS? Source: Capcom
