Plan Your Next Great Television Food Adventure With TVFoodMaps

One app that will definitely be making the move to the new Food & Drink section of the App Store has recently been updated to version 2.0.1. TVFoodMaps allows you to easily find and eat at restaurants featured on the Food Network and Travel Channel including “Man vs. Food,” “The Best Thing I Ever Ate,” and my personal favorite “Diners, Drives-Ins and Dives.” The app features more than 2,600 restaurants featured on 25 popular food-related shows. And in the new version, the app has been completely rewritten with improvements to stability, speed, and look. The listing pages have been redesigned while the GPS usage has been changed to reduce battery drain. The developer of the app, APSquared, is also creator of the food-related My Takeout Menus released earlier this year. That app helps to do away with that annoying drawer stuffed full of takeout menus. TVFoodMaps is a universal app designed for the iPhone/iPod touch and iPad. It can be downloaded for free in the App Store. For a $2.99 in-app purchase, users can upgrade to the premium version of the app featuring no ads, mobile alerts to tell you when you are nearing a spot from the featured shows, and the ability to browse by show. While I’m never a big fan of in-app purchases, I think TVFoodMaps does it in the right way by letting users have a taste of the app for free while making the more useful features optional.
