Challenge Your Friends To A Shooting Showdown
Shooting Showdown (Free) by Naquatic is a multiplayer shooting game where you compete against others for money in a target shooting competition. Using your device’s gyroscope feature, turn your living room into a virtual shooting range. Just try not to shoot the cat.
The game is 100 percent gyroscopic. From the splash page to the gun gallery, you’ll be tilting around like a crazy person right from the start. Apparently, there are swipe controls for when the gyroscope is not enabled, but I couldn’t find how to change it in the settings. It is possible that the swipe feature is only for those devices that don’t have a gyroscope in them at all.
To earn the big bucks, create a game against a friend or stranger in Game Center. Once the round starts, you have 40 seconds to earn as many points as possible by shooting at targets. Players earn one, two, or three points per successful hit. When the round ends, the player with the most points wins and receives a gold coin. The coins can be used to unlock fancy guns like the shotgun or the assault rifle.
There is a practice mode where players can hone their skills at tilt shooting. However, you don’t earn any coins in the practice galleries. So really, what’s the point in practicing?
There are four different shooting galleries that players enter at random for each round. The Silhouette gallery features a paper target with a human silhouette that moves closer and farther away during the round. The Plates gallery has a number of plates that explode when hit with a bullet. The Flip gallery is made up of tin targets that fall when hit, but automatically pop back up after a few seconds. The Bullseye gallery has a paper bullseye target that moves from left to right on the screen.
The game has serious lag issues on the iPod touch. I was using my fourth-generation iPod touch and experienced multiple screen freezes and a couple of crashes. However, I loaded the same game onto my third generation iPad and had no problems at all.
This target shooting game is very entertaining. If you want to play alone, you’ll be able to refine your aiming abilities in the practice room, but for the real fun, find someone to play against in Game Center. Use your winnings to upgrade your weapons, or just buy them with in-app purchases. Be warned. If you try playing the game on an iPod touch, you may experience lagging, freezing and crashing issues. Download the game today and challenge your friend to a shoot out.
