Big News: The Verizon iPhone 5 Is GSM Unlocked

September 21, 2012
The folks at iDownloadBlog have confirmed that the Verizon iPhone 5 is GSM unlocked. This means that you can own a Verizon iPhone and actually use it on another carrier, such as AT&T or T-Mobile. To get this to work, iDownloadBlog actually cut down an AT&T Micro SIM to use it in a Verizon handset. However, you don’t have to do this yourself. They state:
I can’t recommend cutting your own SIM, or even worse, cutting your SIM and placing a piece of tape on it and sticking it in your brand new iPhone 5, with a paper clip no less (I’m cray cray like that), but you should be able to pick up a Nano SIM from AT&T or T-Mobile, and use it on one of those respective networks. (sic)
Take a look:

This news is terrific for travelers who may need to switch out SIMs from time to time, and obviously for anyone that might get grow tired of their existing carrier. Source: iDownloadBlog Have you picked up your iPhone 5 yet?
